New Hampshire High Risk Auto Insurance

In New Hampshire, there are several insurance providers licensed to underwrite and sell auto insurance policies. Many of these companies offer high risk insurance in New Hampshire. Examples include Infinity, Newport Insurance, State Farm, Geico, Progessive, Nationwide, and Arrowhead.

The state of New Hampshire does not specifically require drivers to carry liability insurance on their vehicles. However, there is a financially responsibility law in place that establishes certain minimums of coverage that will be acceptable proof of financial responsibility. If one chooses not to carry this minimum coverage, he/she must be able to prove that he/she has the financial resources available to cover the medical and property damages incurred by other parties in the event of an accident.

The minimum recommended levels of insurance coverage to satisfy the state's financial responsibility law are: Bodily Injury Liability of $25,000/$50,000 per individual/accident; Property Damage Liability of $25,000; Uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury of $25,000/$50,000; and medical payments of $1000.

The state of New Hampshire follows a tort system whereby one driver will by determined to be at fault in any accident. This driver and/or his/her insurance will be held financially responsible for the medical expenses and property repair expenses incurred by all other parties in the accident.

Because there is no specific law in place requiring insurance, there are no requirements to carry proof of insurance in the vehicle. The state does, however, require all operators of motor vehicles to be financially responsible for their actions. To this end, some high risk drivers are required to carry high risk auto insurance and provide sr22 proof to the state.
